The Wild

The Wild, 1950 — Barnett Newman,

The Wild is a unique painting by Newman because of it's unusual size. At eight feet tall and only one and a half inches wide, the painting focuses on the zip alone, which is significant in Newman's abstract paintings. This painting is said to be one of the first of shaped canvases that became popular over a decade later.
