Portrait of Corisande de Gramont

Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun, 1800

Portrait of Corisande de Gramont, 1800 — Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun,

Corisande Armandine Léonie Sophie de Gramont married Charles Augustus, the 5th Earl of Tankerville in 1806. She would have been about 18 years old, likely a few years after she sat for this charming portrait by Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun. A little over 200 years later the portrait would sell for $122,000 USD to a private collector, disappearing from the public view — possibly forever.
