A Crystal Fruit Stand with Peaches, Quinces, and Jasmine may be the first Italian still life. It is, at least, the earliest surviving still life with a clear creation date and the only dated still life by Fede Galizia. Galizia’s still lives were often copied, with 4 reproductions of this painting currently squirreled away in private collections. This is assumed by Sotheby’s to be the original, which increased its value to the private collector who purchased it in July 2015 for 2,414,952 USD.
