Aisha Garifovna Galymbayeva (Айша Ғарифқызы Ғалымбаева) was born in Esik, a small village nestled into the base of the Tian Shan, the Heavenly Mountain in the Almaty Region of Kazakhstan. A.Galymbaeva began painting early, illustrating her mother and grandmother on canvases she sold at the local bazaar. But the Esik market was only the beginning, A.Galymbaeva became one of the most influential and awarded artists in Kazakh history, earning the title The People’s Artist of Kazakhstan.

At 22, A.Galymbaeva entered the Almaty Theater and Art School, and spent four years learning from Leonid Leontyev, Alexey Bortnikov, and Abram Cherkassky. After graduation, she moved to Moscow, studying art direction for film at the All-Russian State Institute of Cinematography (VGIK).

Aisha Galimbaeva was a Kazakh Woman Artist born on January 29, 1917. Galimbaeva worked in Russia and died on April 21, 2008.
