Given by the artist to Claude Monet, Giverny, husband and father of sitters; by inheritance to his son Michel Monet, Giverny; sold in 1952 to Capt. Edward H. Molyneux, sold on the 15th of August 1955 to Ailsa Mellon Bruce, New York; then bequest in 1970 to the National Gallery of Art.
